Hello everybody,

The Front Runner starring Hugh Jackman as the charismatic yet flawed 1988 Democratic presidential hopeful Gary Hart will open in the awards corridor on November 11. Sony announced the date on Tuesday (June 19) and executives will be bullish following Jackman’s star turn in the global hit The Greatest Showman. The studio acquired worldwide rights in May.

"Jason Reitman directs the story from Bron Studios and Right Of Way Films about Hart, who ended his bid for the Democratic presidential nomination after revelations surfaced of an extra-marital affair with Donna Rice. Vera Farmiga, J.K. Simmons, Ari Graynor, and Sara Paxton also star.

The Front Runner will expand on November 16 and go wide on November 21.

Sony also announced that Untitled James Gunn Horror Movie will open on November 30, occupying the slot previously held by Escape Room, which moves to February 1, 2019.

Hello everybody,

Allison Janney is in talks to join Hugh Jackman in Automatik’s Bad Education, a feature based on a true story from I Think We’re Alone Now screenwriter Mike Makowsky and director Cory Finley (Thoroughbreds). The story, which is said to be based on Makowsky’s own high school experience, follows a superintendent of the school district who works for the betterment of the student’s education while embezzling public funds to live the life he wants.

"Jackman is attached to play the superintendent while Janney portrays the school district business manager who is in on the scheme and enjoying the same living large lifestyle while helping him (and her) to cover their tracks.

Fred Berger (La La Land) and Brian Kavanaugh-Jones (Midnight Special) of Automatik are set to produce with Sight Unseen’s Eddie Vaisman, Julia Lebedev, and Oren Moverman.

Janney, who won an Oscar for her work as the controlling and abusive mother in I, Tonya, will first star in the Bert & Bertie-directed Troupe Zero with Jim Gaffigan. New Article: Exclusive Baltasar Kormakur & Hugh Jackman Circling ‘The Good Spy’ For Parkes + MacDonald Image Nation

Adrift helmer Baltasar Kormakur and Hugh Jackman are circling The Good Spy, Kai Bird’s biography of CIA operative Robert Ames that Parkes+MacDonald Image Nation set up in 2014. Script is by F. Scott Frazier. Laurie MacDonald and Walter Parkes are producing along with Evan Hayes. Bird will act as a consultant on the project.

"They are waiting for a rewrite, but the hope is for Jackman to play Ames, an operative in the Middle East who was a big proponent of breaking down barriers by forming strong relationships there. He was killed in the bombing outside the 1983 American Embassy in Beirut, and his grave at the Arlington National Cemetery is the only one that carries “CIA” in its inscription. The film is based around his career exploits and personal life.

Kormakur this Friday opens Adrift, the survival film that stars Shailene Woodley with STX releasing. He is good at handling action in difficult locales, as evidenced by his past films The Deep, Everest, and Contraband. Jackman is coming off The Greatest Showman and Logan, and recently came aligned to play presidential aspirant Gary Hart in the Jason Reitman-directed The Front Runner."

New Article: Exclusive Jason Reitman’s ‘The Front Runner’, Quentin Tarantino & More In Sony Spotlight

Posted on 12 Jun 2018 by Admin
Gallery & Media icon

Hello everybody,

Gary Hart, Venom, Spider-Man, The Equalizer and Lisbeth Salander were some of the characters in the spotlight during Sony Pictures’ presentation today at CineEurope. Hart is the subject of Jason Reitman’s Hugh Jackman-starrer The Front Runner which is based on the true story of the presidential hopeful’s 1988 campaign which was swiftly derailed by reports of an extramarital relationship with Donna Rice. Sony acquired worldwide distribution rights at Cannes and is planning a fall release to coincide with awards season as well as the fall election cycle.

"Reitman was in Barcelona today and said the events of 1988 were the first time “political journalism and tabloids drove into the same lane.” He suggested the story may hold answers to “what the hell is happening in American politics today.” Jackman, in a taped message, said it “may give some insight into how we got here” before introducing a clip and a teaser.

Also making an appearance were Claire Foy who plays Salander in Fede Alvarez’ The Girl In The Spider’s Web as she introduced the trailer and Yann Demange who directs crime drama White Boy Rick, also introing a trailer.

Spider-Man: Into The Spiderverse was touted as a Christmas event that is cracking open the Spiderverse. The trailer was shown after having recently been released to 44M views in just a handful of days. The trailer for Venom also got a look-in. Tom Hardy stars as a “Marvel character unlike any you guys have ever seen” who’s “such dark fun,” said Sony’s President of International Distribution Steven O’Dell. That one strikes in October.

Among other footage included was for animal stories Alpha and A Dog’s Way Home; Goosebumps: Haunted Halloween and Sundance breakout Searching. The latter’s director Aneesh Chaganty and producer Sev Ohanian were also in town to talk about the movie that uses new technology to tell the story of a father looking for his missing daughter. It starts rollout in August.

There was also a video message from The Equalizer II helmer Antoine Fuqua who introduced a clip of Denzel Washington reprising his titular role from the 2014 thriller. Fuqua made a point to thank the European exhibitors in the room for making the first movie “an event for adult audiences” to see in theaters. The sequel rolls out internationally over the summer.

The presentation wrapped with a word from Quentin Tarantino whose Once Upon A Time In Hollywood is just getting into production. He appeared from the set where they were practicing crane shots and said he was making “a piece of cinema to be shown in cinemas.” European moviehouses, Tarantino added, have a special place in his heart because “my films have a European sensibility.”

Earlier, as things got underway today, Sony capitalized on World Cup fever to insert Barcelona football legend Andres Iniesta into a sequence from its upcoming Hotel Transylvania 3: Summer Vacation and wished Spain good luck for the upcoming tournament."

Hello everybody,

The Greatest Showman star Hugh Jackman has surprised pupils with a good luck message ahead of a performance of music from the film. The children from Mitton Manor Primary School in Tewkesbury, Gloucestershire, tweeted him about their rendition of This Is Me from the hit film. In a video, Jackman apologized for not being able to be there.

""You guys are going to crush it, you're going to rock it, you're going to be absolutely amazing," he told them.

Jackman, who also played Wolverine in the X-Men films, added: "Remember life is what you choose to make it and nobody made a difference being like someone else."

Harley Hopson, from the school, said: "We really focussed on the song This Is Me... the children worked hard so we thought let's tweet Hugh Jackman and see how far we can get.

"In the end, we got in contact with him and he sent us a video.

"It was amazing and the children were over the moon with excitement when the message was played to them.""

New Article: Hugh Jackman Says His 'Ridiculously Blessed' Kids Have a 'Responsibility' to 'Help Others'

Posted on 08 Jun 2018 by Admin
Hugh icon

Hello everybody,

Ask Hugh Jackman about the greatest life lesson he’s teaching his kids, and he has a quick answer. “My kids have so many advantages,” the 49-year-old Greatest Showman star tells PEOPLE. “And I want them to know that they have a responsibility to use those advantages to help others.”

"Jackman and wife Deborra-Lee Furness, 62, often count their blessings with their two kids, Oscar, 18, and Ava, 12. “My kids are constantly reminded about how lucky we are in our family,” Jackman says. “We’re ridiculously blessed. We live in a beautiful home in places that other people dream of.”

“But in terms of the world, we’re even more blessed,” he continues. “One out of six people doesn’t have clean drinking water. They can’t comprehend how we live.”

Jackman learned this lesson firsthand when he visited Ethiopia and met a young coffee farmer named Dukale. Inspired by Dukale’s struggle to survive, Jackman founded Laughing Man Coffee. Since its inception, the brand — which uses the tagline “Make Every Cup Count” — has donated a large portion of sales to the Laughing Man Foundation, which supports coffee farming communities and programs by ensuring fair trade.

“Dukale was just barely surviving over the line,” Jackman tells PEOPLE. “And I was inspired by him. I wanted to help.”

In addition to helping others, Jackman says that he’s trying to pattern the right behavior for Oscar and Ava. “I want to lead my kids by example when it comes to charity,” he says.

“Their poverty is something we can fix; that’s something we can feel,” the actor adds. “You have to feel something to fix it. You can’t just talk about the world’s problems occasionally and think, ‘Oh, it would be good to help.’ To really change the world, you have to feel it.”"

New Article: Exclusive Hugh Jackman Thinks Auditions In Hotel Rooms Should Be Banned

Posted on 01 Jun 2018 by Admin
Hugh icon

Hello everybody,

The 'Wolverine' star hopes the Me Too campaign will change the way things are run in the film industry because he doesn't think it's right that auditions are being held in private rooms. Hugh Jackman thinks auditions in hotel rooms shouldn't be allowed following the sexual misconduct claims that came to light this year.

"The Wolverine star hopes the Me Too campaign - which was launched earlier this year after a number of people came forward to claim they'd fallen victim to sexual misconduct - will change the way things are run in the film industry because he doesn't think it's right that auditions are being held in private rooms.

Speaking to Australia's GQ magazine, the 49-year-old star said: "There should never, ever be an audition again without a third person present, there should never be a meeting in a hotel room. You can call it a hotel room, but essentially it's a bedroom, right? So why would you ever need to have a meeting there? So in many ways, it feels like there's a hopeful feeling that this could be a genuine change for the better."

Meanwhile, most of the people who have opened up about their own sexual assault experiences have been women, but Jessica Chastain hopes that men will be inspired by the #MeToo and Time's Up campaigns and launch their own movement.

She said recently: "I think, men also suffer a lot, because of the circumstances we live in ... Worldwide, the suicidal rate among men is much higher than that among women. No one talks about that. That's ultimately linked to our idea of the sexes, which only allows a strong man, but none that shows his feelings ... Of course, a man can be ambitious or whatever he wants to be.

"But he needs to be able to handle his own feelings competently. That's something I long for and it's the kind of character I encounter in my life again and again: men, who express their feelings openly.""
