"Hugh Jackman is suiting up for the third installment of the "Wolverine" franchise.
And New Mexico is getting a piece of the pie.
The New Mexico Film Office announced the project as "Fox Louisiana Production" on Tuesday, although it's clear the film is "Wolverine 3" based on the director and producers.
The feature is directed by James Mangold, who was at the helm of "The Wolverine" in 2013.
It is also being produced by Hutch Parker and Simon Kinberg who produced "X-Men: Days of Future Past." Parker also produced "The Wolverine."
According to the state Film Office, principal photography began this month and will run through August in the Duke City, Rio Rancho, Abiquiú and Chama.
The production will employ about 130 New Mexico crew members and two New Mexico cast members, as well as 600 extras throughout the production, the film office stated.
"New Mexico continues to be a top player in the film and television industry," said Nick Maniatis, Film Office director. "This latest production announcement is a testament to the hard-working and talented people in our state who have become a vibrant, sustainable and diverse contributor to our economy."
Also starring in the film is Boyd Holbrook, who is a regular on the Netflix series "Narcos." He has appeared in past New Mexico-made films "Jane Got a Gun," "The Host" and "The Reunion."
Holbrook will play the lead villain opposite Jackman and Patrick Stewart. He will play a relentless, calculating and intense head of security for a global enterprise who is set against Jackman's clawed Wolverine/Logan hero.
Eriq La Salle, Stephen Merchant, Elise Neal and Elizabeth Rodriguez will also star.
According to the Internet Movie Database, the estimated budget for the film is $127 million. Production began in New Orleans in May. It is slated for a March 3 release."
"Hugh Jackman may be a handsome, brawny Hollywood hunk today, but the Aussie actor wasn’t always quite so buff and A-list, as his recent Instagram post shows.
The Oscar-nominated star, 47, celebrated the class of 2016 on Thursday, May 26, by sharing a photo from his own 1991 graduation. The actor earned a Bachelor of Arts in Communications from the University of Technology in Sydney.
"Congrats To The Graduating Class Of 2016," the Eddie the Eagle star captioned the throwback portrait of himself as a clean-cut and decidedly less chiseled young man smiling proudly in his blue and white gown and black cap as he held his diploma.
For fans who admire his current hunkier look, the actor frequently shares photos of himself working out, putting his impressive muscles on full display. Jackman is currently filming the latest as-yet-untitled Wolverine film, in which he reprises his role as the brooding mutant."
"Over the last few weeks, the rumour mill surrounding Wolverine 3 has been gently turning away, with various sources claiming to know new bits of information about the secretive film.
One such piece of information has surrounded the introduction of X-23, the character many expect will replace Hugh Jackman as the clawed mutant.
Speculation has also been growing over which comic book story arc the film will be based on, most of which has pointed to Old Man Logan.
Thanks to some pesky photographers, we’ve been given a first look at Hugh Jackman on the set of Wolverine 3, the actor looking particularly bearded and disheveled, reminiscent of Old Man Logan’s look."
"Montblanc is proud to welcome Hugh Jackman as the international brand ambassador for North America.

"Eddie the Eagle co-stars Hugh Jackman and Taron Egerton are amongst the guests on The Jonathan Ross Show tonight (March 19) on ITV One.
The upcoming movie is based upon the exploits of Michael Edwards – the British skier who in 1988 became the first ever competitor to represent Great Britain at the Olympics in ski jumping.
Egerton – known for his breakout role in Kingsman: The Secret Service – plays Edwards in the new release, while Jackman plays the role of Bronson Peary.
Ross is also joined on the sofa for a chat by comedienne Shazia Mirza, and Luke Evans – start of Peter Jackson's The Hobbit.
Evans has taken a dramatic detour from Middle Earth to star in High Rise – the adaptation of the dystopian novel being brought to life by director Ben Wheatley."
