“…for the whole 17 years, I kept thinking that would be so great, like I would love to see, particularly, Iron Man and the Hulk and Wolverine together. And every time I saw an Avengers movie I could just see Wolverine in the middle of all of them like punching them all on the head. But it was like, ‘Oh well, that’s not gonna happen,’ and it was interesting just when I first saw that headline — it was just the possibility of it and who knows what’s gonna happen, obviously — I was like, ‘Hang on!’ But I think, unfortunately, the ship has sailed for me, but for someone else, I would like to see Wolverine in there.”
“Recently I happened to be sitting next to Hugh Jackman. I didn’t know what another awkward thing I could talk about but to be like, ‘Am I going to see you soon?’ He said a couple of things to me and I’ll just leave it at that. Otherwise, I feel like I’m going to get into trouble with somebody.
I asked him though because I kept thinking whether or not Logan was supposed to be the last Wolverine thing or whatever and he said to me he’s been thinking about it and it’s been on his mind. So, I don’t know, he may be.”
"Jackman – who ended his long-running cinematic portrayal of Wolverine with last year’s Oscar-nominated Logan – has of course long been a target of Deadpool’s playful zingers, with a particularly hilarious joke near the end of the first movie seeing Wade Wilson actually don a mask of Jackman’s face in order to try and hide his scarred visage. As Deadpool also loves to reference, the character made his rather regrettable film debut in the widely panned X-Men Origins: Wolverine, which saw the Merc lose his Mouth.
Despite Fox devoting its opening number at CinemaCon to Deadpool, sadly, Reynolds himself did not show up, relaying in via video that he couldn’t be there. In the same video though – according to Deadline – Jackman made a surprise appearance, amidst lots of humorous references to the impending Disney/Fox merger, and Jackman’s critically bashed but extremely financially successful late 2017 Fox film The Greatest Showman.
As cool as Jackman making that cameo during Deadpool’s portion of Fox’s CinemaCon presentation is, it also naturally leads one to speculate if this could be a hint at something more. Both Reynolds and Deadpool fans have publicly pushed for Jackman’s Wolverine to appear in a Deadpool film multiple times, and while Jackman has joked about the prospect, he’s also continually reaffirmed that Logan was his last time playing the adamantium-infused X-Men standout.
That said, given Deadpool’s penchant for meta jokes and breaking the fourth wall, perhaps Jackman wouldn’t need to be Wolverine to appear in a Deadpool film. It would be perfectly in keeping with Deadpool’s spirit to have Hugh Jackman, the famous actor, become a character in a Deadpool entry, likely being relentlessly teased by Wade the entire time. For now, any scenario in which Jackman joins the Deadpool franchise is pure wishful thinking. It’s fun to imagine though."
"Though plot details are being kept under wraps, the script, which insiders say has an “Election” feel, is based on true events that Makowsky experienced at his high school.
“La La Land” producer Fred Berger and Brian Kavanaugh-Jones of Automatik will produce alongside Eddie Vaisman, Julia Lebedev and Oren Moverman of Sight Unseen. Makowsky is also producing.
Following a busy 2017, which included the release of two box office hits, “Logan” and “The Greatest Showman,” as well as shooting Jason Reitman’s “The Front Runner,” Jackman took his time in finding that next feature. Over the past couple of weeks, he began to lean toward “Bad Education.”
“The Greatest Showman” recently crossed $400 million in the worldwide box office and Jackman recently announced on Twitter that the soundtrack has gone platinum. “Logan,” Jackman’s final outing as Wolverine, earned more than $600 million worldwide as well as earning an Oscar nom for best-adapted screenplay.
Jackman can be seen next in “The Front-Runner,” based on the true story of American senator Gary Hart’s presidential campaign in 1988 which is derailed when he is caught in a scandalous love affair. The pic bows later this year and is expected to be a big awards season player."
